Five of our Year 12 Physicists recently achieved certification in the Engineering Education Scheme. This is a prestigious scheme that is well looked upon by universities and assists with offers to undergraduate courses, especially engineering courses.
To gain the qualification the group had to work for 6 months with an engineer from Lubrizol to solve a genuine engineering problem they had with cooling their test rigs at their workplace in Duffield.
The tasks included visiting the factory, visiting Loughborough University and staying overnight, producing a written report of their project (which students did in their own time after school), and then presenting their solution to a panel of engineers at Cranmore Park, Solihull.
