Heanor Gate post best ever set of GCSE results on the back of the best ever A–level figures.
Stephen Huntington, Principal, said "I am delighted that our students are celebrating here at Heanor Gate with 70% of them achieving at least 5 grades at 9-4 including both English and Maths, virtually half at 9-5 including English and Maths, increases of 9% at both measures on 2017 results respectively.
The school also saw increases in virtually all other areas of the curriculum with particularly strong performances in all Science subjects, EBACC qualifications and Physical Education. Students should be rightly proud of a fantastic set of results which have been hard earned and thoroughly deserved. I would also like to thank the parents and carers of those students who have endeavoured to challenge and nurture their children as well as work with the teaching staff to ensure the academic potential was met.
As Principal I couldn't be happier for the students who have been an amazing year group, possibly the best I've ever worked with, but also the staff who have seen through a cultural shift over the last few years and are now being rewarded with a great set of outcomes at both GCSE and Post 16. Their dedication, resilience, tenacity and sheer hard work have produced these outcomes and they should be celebrating as much as the students."
Paul West, Chief Executive of the Spencer Academmies Trust, said “At Spencer Trust we are delighted to celebrate the success of this year’s A Level and GCSE Students at Heanor Gate. The school has not only delivered across the board improvement in many subjects including English, Maths and Science, but this year’s performance represents the schools best ever academic outcomes. The school has not only delivered consistently high results in many subjects including English, Maths and Science, credit goes to the school leadership, teaching and support teams and the supportive community of students and parents. Congratulations to all.”
