What a fantastic experience HGSC students had during the Easter holidays as both U14 & U15 Football and Netball teams went on a week-long tour of Barcelona. The tour included; coaching from highly qualified coaches, matches against local teams and other schools, as well as a tour of the Camp Nou stadium and museum.
The U14 Netballers improved throughout the week, winning 3 of their 5 games. The U15 Girls Netball team remained unbeaten during the tour and were awarded a tournament winners trophy (pictured below).
The U15 Boys Football team also took the plaudits with two victories from two games, the second producing a huge 17-0 score line. James Dean finished as the top goal scorer and Tom Hilton was voted Player of the Tour.
The U14 Boys managed a win in their second game but were beaten narrowly in their first, losing 3-2. Malachy Woods won the award for U14s Goal of the Tournament with a stunning free-kick, and James Eley was voted Man of the Match in the second game.
Students’ spare time was spent perfecting their diving skills in the pool and getting sunburnt - a perfect way to end a brilliant week before the long bus journey home!
On return to HGSC we were delighted to receive the following letter from the tour company, Active4, praising the students who were a real assett to HGSC.
